Scientists in Scotland have identified the gene in barley which is responsible for drought resistance, which could help the Scotch whisky and wider cereals industry respond to climate change.
Leading Scottish shortbread manufacturer Walkers Shortbread last
week introduced its new whisky mince pies at the Anuga trade show
in Cologne. The company plans to launch the product in the UK for
the Christmas season.
Scottish whisky distiller Glenmorganie is set to invest nearly
£500,000 (€800,000) in a move that will boost production capacity
in anticipation of an upturn in future sales.
